LUNDU: Rural villagers here received a boost to their agricultural efforts as farming tools and equipment were handed over under the Sahabat Komuniti Desa (SKOD) Garden Partner Project.
The handover, held during a ceremony yesterday (July 19), saw villagers equipped with essential farming implements to kick-start or expand their agricultural activities.
Opar assemblyman Billy Sujang said the initiative goes beyond providing agricultural tools, as it reflects a comprehensive government effort to boost the rural economy, foster volunteerism, and empower villagers to become more self-reliant and competitive.
“Today, we are not just handing over physical equipment — we are also igniting a new spirit within the community: a spirit of cooperation, productivity, and shared progress,” he said during the handover ceremony.
Billy expressed confidence that the equipment would serve as a catalyst for higher agricultural yields, ultimately helping to reduce living costs and enhance the overall quality of life for rural families.
