Sabah Polls: GRS wins the most seats, State Assembly hung

KOTA KINABALU, Sabah: Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) won the most seats after the official results of the 17th Sabah State Election in all 73 constituencies were announced by the Election Commission.

GRS won 29 state seats as opposed to Parti Warisan that won 25 seats.

Barisan Nasional (BN) won six seats, Independents five, UPKO three, STAR two, PH one, PN one and KDM one.

The simple majority needed to form the state government is 37 seats.

GRS Chairman, Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor, will issue a written statement on the current developments of forming a new Sabah Government following the state election.

He said he would issue the statement after returning from Istana Seri Kinabalu.

“I have made a written statement, I will go to the palace first then we will issue the statement,” he told reporters before heading to the state palace from the Chief Minister’s official residence in Sri Gaya here this morning.

Hajiji was accompanied by several other GRS candidates who were victorious in the election. – BERNAMA
