The boxing bouts, held from Feb 5-6 at the Sri Aman Indoor Stadium Sports Complex, served as a key platform for uncovering emerging fighters from across Sarawak and highlighted the state’s growing pool of boxing talent.

Deputy President of SABA, Datuk Johnny Ting Su King, said the selection process is ongoing and the association aims to field the strongest possible team for SUKMA.

“We are assessing all boxers, and SUKSAR plays an important role in identifying potential talent here,” he told Sarawak Tribune at the tournament venue today (Feb 5).

He added that SABA coaches are closely observing the boxers over the two-day tournament, reflecting the depth of talent.

“We already have coaches present here observing (the bouts) to ensure the best boxers make the team,” he said.

Another 11 bouts are scheduled for Friday (Feb 6), as the emerging boxing talent aims to shine at the Sarawak Games.
