KUCHING: A total of 250 participants gathered for the inaugural Ramadan Forum 1446H/2025M at Wisma Sabati today aimed to strengthen community ties and highlight women’s role during Ramadan.

The forum was jointly organised by The Association of Wives of Ministers and Deputy Ministers of Sarawak (SABATI),the Women’s Wing of the Malaysian Government Welfare and Sports Council (MAKSAK), and the Armed Forces Family Welfare Body (BAKAT).

It was graced by SABATI chairperson Datuk Amar Juma’ani Tun Tuanku Bujang, who commended the collaboration between the three organisations in promoting women’s contributions.

“This forum offers valuable insights for women, whether they are homemakers or working professionals.Their role during Ramadan is crucial in shaping a harmonious and successful family,” said MAKSAK (Women) chairperson Datin Amar Baduyah Bujang.

Meanwhile, SABATI treasurer Datin Siti Shorgayah Ahmad Zaidin highlighted that this marked the first initiative bringing together the three organisations on a shared platform for the Women and Ramadan Forum, themed ‘Attaining Blessings Together’.

“We are heartened by the strong participation from SABATI, MAKSAK (Women), and BAKAT members. Such collaborations should continue, particularly in organising future welfare-driven programmes,” she said.

The forum also featured a traditional ‘bubur pedas’ cooking demonstration, adding a cultural touch to the gathering.
