KAPIT: A ‘bubur lambuk’ roadshow and ‘SABERKAS Prihatin 2026’ programme organised by the Sarawak United National Youth Organisation (SABERKAS) Pelagus Branch brought festive cheer in conjunction with Ramadan while strengthening community ties at the Bazaar Ramadan Town Square Kapit.

Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Department (Bumiputera Law and Custom), Datuk Jefferson Jamit Unyat said programmes of such nature not only enliven the Ramadan season through community activities but also serve as an important platform to foster unity and togetherness.

“Programmes like this not only enliven the Ramadan atmosphere with community activities, but also serve as an important platform in strengthening unity and the spirit of togetherness among the local community,” he said during the programme on Friday.

The Bukit Goram assemblyman added that the values of mutual respect, solidarity and sharing during the month of Ramadan should continue to be nurtured as the foundation of a harmonious and prosperous society.

Meanwhile, Minister of Works who is also Kapit MP, Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi expressed support for community- and welfare-based initiatives such as the programme.

“Such initiatives help bring leaders closer to the people while reflecting the government’s concern for those in need,” he said.

During the programme, food baskets were presented to 21 veteran members and 16 underprivileged residents from Kampung Melayu Kapit.

Two individuals also received assistance under the ‘SABERKAS Prihatin’ initiative presented by the guests of honour.
