KUCHING: The vice-president of Sarawak United National Youth Organisation (Saberkas) highlighted the increasing demand for jobs driven by technology and the need for young people to equip themselves with digital knowledge and skills.

Dennis Ngau stressed that continuing education and participation in high-skilled programmes are essential for acquiring the necessary knowledge for the 21st-century job market.

“Saberkas is organising various educational, training, and leadership programmes focused on empowering the digital economy.

“These programmes aim to enhance the knowledge and skills of youth in the rapidly growing field of digital economics, which is shaping human life today and in the future.

“These efforts align with the vision of Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, who aims to position the state as a leader in digital development and new economic practices.”

Speaking at the Third Series of the Saberkas Digital Economic Empowerment Workshop here, Dennis said this programme is part of the 350 activities organised since January to engage youth and enhance their knowledge.

The one-day programme was attended by around 50 participants from various Saberkas branches and the Sarawak Technology Excellence Centre (CENTEXS) Santubong Branch.

Dennis, who is also the Telang Usan assemblyman, believes that the sharing of knowledge in this workshop has provided valuable insights to the participants, especially those interested in the digital economy for generating extra income or improving their work quality.

He also hoped that Saberkas members can build a sense of camaraderie, social skills, and economic networks through programmes like this.

“Saberkas has always emphasised leadership development to create young leaders for the state and the country. It remains relevant by imparting management, administration, and leadership training to its members.”
