
KUCHING: SACOFA Sdn Bhd (Sacofa) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Brunei telecommunication icon, Datastream Technology Sdn Bhd (DST) to form a strategic collaboration to bring international broadband quality to Sarawak. The new partnership will further boost the implementation of high-quality broadband services in the state, in line with Sacofa’s vision of connecting Sarawak to the future, which is consistent with the State government’s vision for Sarawak.
Sacofa managing director, Mohamed Zaid Zaini, said that he is pleased with the partnership as it would benefit the broadband consumer in Sarawak as the synergy of activities will leverage on DST’s great partnership with MyRepublic, a highly reputable industry player in broadband.
“Sacofa has always been focused on delivering on the State government agenda. We are more dedicated than ever in improving Sarawak’s telecommunications infrastructure to ensure we meet the requirements to deliver on the backbone of the Digital Economy as envisioned by the Chief Minister, Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg. “With this partnership, we look forward to unlocking value in bringing world-class broadband at affordable rates to Sarawak,” said Mohamed Zaid during the mou signing ceremony held at Borneo Convention Center Kuching (BCCK), yesterday.
Meanwhile, DST chief executive officer, Suhaimi Hussain said they are also excited to build strong relationship with Sacofa to catalyse further the connectivity potential in Sarawak to support Sarawak’s Digital Economy initiatives.
“DST’s ind-depth telecommunication experience together with our association with MyRepublic and Sacofa’s experience in providing ICT infrastructure is a good alliance in realising high-quality and affordable broadband services in Sarawak,” he said, adding, looking forward to the corporation in developing the next stage of this exciting prospect.
The momentous occasion brings great news for broadband consumers in Sarawak, as the mutually gained values from partnership optimisation will be passed on to end users in terms of high quality, affordable, and reliable broadband services in the State. The partnership also have multiplying benefits as the agreement will further improve international broadband connectivity and be conducive to the continued development of the information technology infrastructure and services in the State.
