SIBURAN: The Sri Aman Division Development Agency (SADA) has been urged to explore further opportunities in agriculture and the halal industry through deeper collaboration with the Sarawak Economic Development Corporation (SEDC).
SADA Chairperson, Datuk Seri Rohani Abdul Karim, said this includes developing strategic land in the Sri Aman Division.
“I call upon SADA and SEDC to broaden their collaboration, particularly in halal livestock projects and large-scale agricultural programmes that can enhance the wellbeing of rural communities in Sri Aman.
“SADA also warmly welcomes close cooperation in the development of strategic land in Sri Aman, as well as SADA’s active involvement in the planning and implementation of agricultural and economic programmes under SEDC’s jurisdiction,” she said following a working visit to the SEDC Halal Slaughtering Centre in Siburan near here, recently.
Rohani noted that such visits align with SADA’s key priorities this year, particularly in strengthening the halal agriculture sector and accelerating economic development in the Sri Aman Division.
She added that the visit reinforced the strategic partnership between SADA and SEDC in the agriculture and halal industry sectors.
The SEDC Halal Slaughtering Centre is a licensed facility that complies with halal standards set by the Sarawak Islamic Religious Department (JAIS) and international food safety regulations.
The centre plays a vital role in Sarawak’s halal meat supply chain and supports efforts to position the region as a hub for halal product production.
In addition to providing high-quality slaughtering services, the centre also contributes to the development of the livestock industry, halal meat processing, and the creation of economic and employment opportunities for the local community.
Rohani expressed hope that the visit would mark the starting point for the implementation of high-impact projects in the Sri Aman Division, thereby strengthening the halal industry network and generating more economic opportunities for the people.
“This is in line with SADA’s aspiration to develop Sri Aman as a hub for modern agriculture and the halal economy in Sarawak,” she added.
Rohani was accompanied by members of the SADA Steering Committee, including Batang Lupar Member of Parliament (MP) Mohamad Shafizan Kepli, Lubok Antu MP Roy Angau Gingkoi, Lingga assemblywoman Dayang Noorazah Awang Sohor, SADA Special Administrative Officer Alfred Geling Ason, and officers from the SADA Secretariat.
They were welcomed by SEDC Regional Development and Planning Division Head, Nikk Adam Abdillah Kipalli, and SEDC Halal Slaughtering Centre General Manager, Artino Arshad.
