Safe return for missing boy

PADAWAN: A six-year-old boy with autism who was reported missing on Sunday (Aug 24) was found safe today (Aug 25).

Padawan police chief Supt Mohd Irwan Hafiz Md Radzi said the child was discovered at 5.15pm, about 200 metres from his home near a riverbank at Jalan Kim Chu Sin, Batu Kawa.

“He was immediately referred to Sarawak General Hospital for a medical check-up,” he said in a statement.

Mohd Irwan expressed his gratitude to all search and rescue teams involved, as well as local villagers who assisted throughout the operation.

Earlier, the boy was reported missing after he was believed to have wandered away from his home at 4.15 pm on Sunday.

During their search, his family found one of his slippers about 10 metres from the house and the other roughly 30 metres away near a tributary.
