KUCHING: Sarawak Minister for Education, Innovation and Talent Development, Datuk Seri Roland Sagah Wee Inn, has voiced concern over the tragic death of a Sarawakian female student studying at Cyberjaya University, which police are now treating as a murder case.
Speaking briefly to the media, Sagah said he was not in a position to comment as he had yet to receive a full report on the incident.
“I haven’t read the details, so I cannot comment specifically.
“However, whether we are students or members of the public, we must all remain alert and cautious, wherever we may be.
“Incidents like this can happen anytime, anywhere,” he said.
He made the remarks after officiating the I-CATS Segulai Sejalai Gawai 2025 Gathering held at Dewan Tan Sri Aziz, I-CATS University College on Thursday.
In the recent murder incident, the 20-year-old student, who was pursuing a degree in physiotherapy, was found dead on Tuesday in her dormitory at Mutiara Ville.
According to police, the victim died from severe head injuries believed to have been caused by a blunt object. No signs of forced entry were found at the scene.
The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder, and efforts to track down the suspect are ongoing.
