Saifullizan Ishak named Sarawak’s No.2 cop

KUCHING: Senior Assistant Commissioner (SAC) Saifullizan Ishak has been appointed as the new Sarawak Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), succeeding Datuk Ibrahim Darus. 

Currently serving as the principal assistant director (Intelligence/Operations) in the Standard Compliance Division of Bukit Aman Integrity and Standard Compliance Department, Saifullizan will also be promoted to the rank of DCP.

According to Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) secretary SAC Datuk Kamaruzaman Abdullah, Saifullizan is among 13 senior officers involved in a nationwide police reshuffle.

The transfers will take effect on April 7.

Ibrahim, who held the Sarawak DCP post for one year and three months, was appointed as the deputy director of Bukit Aman’s Special Branch 2 with the rank of Commissioner of Police (CP) on Feb 10. His new role takes effect on March 10.

However, he is set for another transition within Bukit Aman’s Special Branch, where he will continue as deputy director but, in Special Branch E1, effective April 7. 

On Feb 21, Ibrahim officially handed over his duties to Sarawak Management Department chief SAC Rizal Abdul Rahman Sidek during a farewell ceremony at Sarawak Contingent police headquarters (IPK).
