KUCHING: Sarawak Information Systems Sdn Bhd (SAINS) and LatConnect60 Ltd (LC60) on Wednesday (Oct 22) exchanged a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish a strategic collaboration aimed at advancing remote sensing, data processing, and Earth observation capabilities in Sarawak.

The partnership creates a framework for joint initiatives in remote sensing data processing and the development of pilot projects leveraging Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR), optical, and hyperspectral satellite data for practical applications.

These efforts are designed to support informed decision-making and drive improved operational outcomes across government and industry sectors.

“This collaboration represents an important milestone in Sarawak’s journey toward digital and scientific excellence.

“By combining SAINS’ local expertise with LC60’s advanced Earth observation technology, we are laying the foundation for spatial data-driven governance and sustainable development,” said SAINS Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Busiai Seman.

“We are delighted to partner with SAINS in building Sarawak’s next generation of space-enabled data capabilities.

“Through the fusion of our satellite and Al technologies with SAINS’ local insight and digital leadership, we aim to deliver actionable intelligence that supports sustainability, resource optimisation, and resilient growth for the state,” said LatConnect60 Ltd CEO, Venkat Pillay.

The collaboration will also focus on co-developing operational solutions that deliver tangible benefits to key stakeholders in both the public and private sectors.

“This initiative aligns closely with Sarawak’s Post Covid-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030, which emphasises innovation, technology adoption, and digital transformation as key drivers of economic growth,” Pillay added.

LC60 Al, headquartered in Perth, Western Australia, is a post-revenue Earth-observation and Al-enabled solutions company specialising in transforming satellite data into actionable insights for government and commercial clients across the Asia-Pacific region.

Through its proprietary data-fusion platform, EONet60, and a forthcoming Low Earth Orbit (LEO) microsatellite constellation featuring high-resolution short-wave infrared (SWIR) and hyperspectral imaging, LC60 brings advanced technological capabilities to the partnership.
