KUCHING: Datuk Seri Joseph Salang Gandum has finally bowed out as Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) president, marking the end of his leadership and the beginning of a more relaxed chapter in life.
Appearing cheerful and at ease, Salang said he now plans to enjoy his free time playing golf and spending time with friends.
“I’ll be playing golf more often and maybe visiting Kuala Lumpur more frequently,” he said.
He said this when met after the PRS 21st anniversary dinner, held in conjunction with the conclusion of the party’s 6th Triennial Delegates Conference (TDC) at a hotel here last night (Oct 20).
The former Julau MP added that many of his friends are in Kuala Lumpur, and he looks forward to catching up with them soon.
Salang assumed the presidency in 2021 following the passing of PRS founding president, the late Tan Sri Datuk Amar Dr James Jemut Masing.
His tenure officially ended yesterday with Minister in the Premier’s Department and Kakus assemblyman Datuk Seri John Sikie Tayai succeeding him.
