Samalaju players meet up with Awang Tengah

KUCHING: Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan yesterday received a courtesy visit by the delegation from Dongjin Semichem Co Ltd headed by its chief executive officer Lee Boo Sup at the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) building, here.

The visit was to update the deputy chief minister on work pertaining to the proposed USD130 million foaming agent production factory in Samalaju Industrial Park.

The factory is expected to be completed by 2021 and will offer 500 job opportunities.

Later, Awang Tengah also received a courtesy visit by officials of Wenan Steel Malaysia Sdn Bhd headed by its chairman Wang Wen An.

During the 30-minute visit, Awang Tengah was updated on the progress of the company’s proposed plan to construct a USD3 billion steel factory in Samalaju Industrial Park.

Also present during the meeting were Entreprenuer and Small, Medium Enterprise Development Assistant Minister Datuk Mohd Naroden Majais, Industries and Investment Assistant Minister Malcom Mussen Lamoh and Permanent Secretary to the Ministry of Industrial and Entrepreneur Development Datuk Liaw Soon Eng.
