The host team capitalised on their home advantage to deliver an impressive performance under no pressure in the final, comfortably overcoming Bintulu in straight sets 15-13, 15-10.

In contrast, Bintulu – also one of the tournament favourites – failed to maintain their aggressive rhythm in the final and had to settle for second place.

The solid pairing of two experienced players from Samarahan, Abang Ajmal Shauqi Abang Mohd Fauzi and Mohd Haris Hipni, proved key in securing the victory.

The final match on the closing day of the tournament was witnessed by the Minister of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development, Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, who also officiated the prize-giving ceremony.

History was made as hosts Samarahan dominated the men’s team event – the tournament’s premier category.

Samarahan defeated three-time champions Kuching in the final with a 2-1 scoreline.

The champions walked away with RM4,000, while the runners-up took home RM2,000.

Bintulu and Serian each received RM1,000 for finishing joint third.

In the Men’s Open Regu category, Samarahan B were crowned champions, followed by Bintulu A as runners-up, with Sibu and Kuching sharing third place.

Betong also made an impact this time around by posing a strong challenge in the women’s and youth categories.

In the youth category, Kuching emerged champions, followed by Betong in second place, while Limbang took third.

Meanwhile, in the women’s category, Betong took home the title, with Kuching as runners-up.

Samarahan A and Samarahan B finished joint third.

For all three categories, the champions received RM1,000 in cash prizes, runners-up RM600, and third-place teams RM400 each.
