KUCHING: Santubong Member of Parliament (MP), Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri, recently visited a fire victim in Kampung Bintawa Ulu, extending assistance and moral support following a minor blaze at the resident’s home.
Nancy, who is also the Minister of Women, Family and Community Development, said the visit was not merely to assess the situation but also to ensure that Kamariah Jumat and her family receive the necessary support to move forward after the incident.
“Every test comes with its own wisdom, and it is in moments like these that we see the true value of togetherness and compassion within the community,” she said.
Through the cooperation of various parties, Nancy said assistance had been channelled to help ease the family’s burden.
“The Santubong Parliamentary Office contributed RM500, while the Sarawak Social Welfare Department provided RM300 through its Immediate Aid Fund along with essential items. The National Welfare Foundation also extended RM500 under its ‘Kasih Prihatin’ assistance,” she said.
Nancy expressed appreciation to all parties for their swift response and continued concern, describing it as a reflection of the strong spirit of community.
She emphasised that efforts to safeguard the welfare of the people will remain a priority.
In a separate visit, Nancy also paid her last respects to the family of the late Semi Suni in Kampung Bintawa Ulu.
She conveyed her condolences and offered words of comfort to the bereaved family, acknowledging the deep loss of a loved one.
“Losing a mother and a beloved family member leaves a profound void, but every soul will return to the Almighty,” she said.
Nancy expressed hope that the family would be granted strength, patience and resilience in facing the difficult time.
