KUCHING: Santubong National Park has been temporarily closed to the public following unsafe weather conditions that have made hiking trails slippery and increased the risk of sudden water flow from the mountain.
The Sarawak Forestry Corporation (SFC) said the Controller of National Parks and Nature Reserves announced the closure on Sunday.
Visitors’ safety remains the top priority amid ongoing wet weather affecting the area.
The closure will remain in effect until further notice, pending improved weather conditions and safety assessments by park officials.
Members of the public are advised to monitor SFC’s official media channels for latest updates on reopening and hiking status.
Santubong National Park, a popular destination for hikers and nature lovers, is vulnerable during prolonged rainfall due to its steep terrain and natural water channels that can swell without warning.
