SAR ops underway after elderly man vanished from home

MARUDI: A search and rescue (SAR) operations is underway to locate a 64-year-old man reported missing from his home in Long Luyang Tinjar, Baram since Tuesday (April 29).

The missing individual, Patrick Sapek Garang, was discovered missing when his brother visited the house around 5:00 pm and found his room empty.

Concerned for his whereabouts, family members and villagers began searching for him the next morning (April 30), focusing their efforts around his farm, but were unable to locate him.

The family later lodged a missing person report at Long Lama police station for assistance in the search.

According to the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), a team from Lopeng station was deployed to assist in the search following a distress call.

The team had to travel some 160 kilometres, taking about three hours to reach the location.

As of the time of reporting, Patrick remains unaccounted for and the search continues.
