SIMANGGANG: Police are seeking the public’s help to locate an elderly man reported missing after his vehicle was found by the Batang Lupar riverbank near Jalan Skait on Monday (Jan 5).

Sri Aman police chief Supt Dennis Bunyam said they received a police report regarding the disappearance of Celsus Khaw Choon Seng, 63, at around 2.30pm.

Khaw, who is from Batu Kawa, Kuching, is believed to have left his home at around 4pm on Sunday (Jan 4), driving a white Perodua Alza to Sri Aman.

“Initial investigations found that the victim was alone when he left on personal business.

“Family members attempted to contact him but were unsuccessful up to the time the police report was lodged,” he said.

Following the discovery of Khaw’s vehicle at the location, Dennis said a search and rescue (SAR) operation was launched involving police, the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) and the Civil Defence Force (APM).

He added that Khaw was believed to be wearing a short-sleeved T-shirt, dark-coloured long pants and Brook-brand slippers at the time he went missing.

Anyone with information related to the incident, are urged to come forward to assist investigations by contacting investigating officer ASP Leonard Mallaca at 019-750 9390, Sri Aman police operations room at 083-322035, or the nearest police station.
