BAU: A search and rescue (SAR) operation is underway for a seven-year-old autistic boy who went missing from his home in Kampung Tembawang Sauh here yesterday (Feb 4).

The boy was discovered missing at around 1.30pm after his family realised he was no longer in the living room of their house.

Immediate efforts by the family to locate him proved unsuccessful. A police report was lodged for further search assistance.

Firefighters from Bau station, together with the police and Civil Defence Force (APM), were dispatched to the scene to assist in the operation.

Information gathered at the scene indicated that the boy’s trousers and slippers were discovered near a waterfall about 2km from his home, raising concerns over his safety.

The location where the personal items were discovered is difficult to access and can only be reached using pickup trucks, complicating rescue efforts.

At the time of writing, the boy remains missing.
