KUCHING: Saraspice Sdn Bhd (SSB) is setting its sights on a five per cent growth in sales revenue this year, aiming to surpass RM43 million, alongside improved profitability.
SSB general manager Fu Siang Lee said the company recorded impressive growth, with sales revenue soaring from RM20.6 million in 2022 to RM40.9 million in 2024, a remarkable increase of 98.5 per cent.
“Established as a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Malaysian Pepper Board (MPB) on September 12, 2019, Saraspice officially commenced operations on Feb 1, 2022, taking over the trading functions previously managed by MPB’s trading division.

“These figures reflect outstanding progress in a short span of time, proof of the dedication of our team, the trust of our partners, and, importantly, the hard work of pepper farmers who are the backbone of the industry,” he said during his speech at the launch of Saraspice’s new product line.
The event was officiated by Sri Aman MP and Saraspice chairman Datuk Seri Doris Sophia Brodie, at the Sheraton Hotel here.
Fu stressed that Saraspice’s achievements are closely linked to the well-being of pepper farmers.
“We are deeply committed to continuing MPB’s tradition of purchasing pepper directly from farmers and exporting it to markets such as China, Japan, South Korea, and several other Asian countries.
“As we expand, our goal remains to uplift farmers’ incomes and improve their livelihoods, ensuring the benefits of the pepper industry are shared equitably.
“This forms a crucial part of our Sustainability Initiative to safeguard the long-term future of Malaysia’s pepper sector, especially in Sarawak,” he said.
As an MPB subsidiary, Fu reaffirmed Saraspice’s dedication to upholding the global reputation of Sarawak pepper as a premium, high-quality product.
“All pepper sold by Saraspice is 100 percent natural and pure, cultivated by Sarawak’s pepper farmers.
“After procurement, the pepper undergoes processing at MPB’s advanced facilities, which include dry and wet processing plants, steam treatment units, colour-sorting machines, and a large-scale grinding mill certified under Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) standards.
“Following processing, the pepper is meticulously graded by MPB’s ISO 9001:2015-certified grading team, tested at the ISO 17025:2017-accredited quality control laboratory, appropriately labelled by grade, and certified halal by the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM),” he said.
Saraspice has also strengthened its production capabilities by investing in packaging and bottling machinery in 2022, enhancing its ability to deliver safe, high-quality pepper products to local consumers.
