SARATOK: Several key development projects in the Saratok area are progressing, including the Saratok Waterfront and Anjung Rehat Kalaka, aimed at improving infrastructure, supporting local traders, and enhancing community facilities.

Kalaka assemblyman, Mohamad Duri said the Saratok Waterfront project is currently in the planning stage, with efforts underway to identify a suitable temporary location for traders during the implementation period.

He said the initiative reflects the commitment to balancing development needs while ensuring that local businesses are not affected during the construction phase.

Meanwhile, the development of Anjung Rehat Kalaka is also being pursued to provide a dedicated space for residents to relax and conduct community activities, further strengthening social cohesion in the area.

“Although part of the allocation is used for the Saratok Waterfront project, efforts to assist rural residents will continue, including the provision of facilities such as bunds and water gates for agricultural areas as well as the construction of farm roads in the Metong area,” he said.

He said this during a breaking-of-fast event held at the Saratok District Office Hall on Friday.

Mohamad emphasised that infrastructure development remains a key priority in improving the livelihoods of the people, particularly those involved in agriculture.

He also commended the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) through the Saratok District Police Headquarters for their continuous efforts in combating crime, including drug-related offences and online gambling activities in the district.

Meanwhile, 250 packets of bubur lambuk were distributed to the local community during the programme organised by PEMADAM Saratok District.

Of the total, 100 packets were handed to the mosque, while 150 were distributed to government staff and members of the public in conjunction with the Ramadan celebrations.

Mohamad also announced that the Krian Kabak Bridge is scheduled to be officially opened on March 18, a development expected to enhance connectivity and ease mobility for residents in the surrounding areas.
