KUCHING: Sarawak is stepping up efforts to develop its creative industry with increased investments, growing regional visibility and upcoming infrastructure projects designed to support local talent.
Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg said the state deeply believes in the power of the creative industry as it shapes minds, moves hearts, and builds bridges between cultures.
“Through our Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts, we continue to invest in training, education and infrastructure. Soon, we will open our own Centre for Performing Arts – a dedicated space to nurture local talents and fuel Sarawak’s creative future,” he said.
He conveyed this in a video speech aired during the ASEAN International Film Festival and Awards (AIFFA) 2025 Gala Night and Awards event at a hotel here on Saturday night.
Abang Johari added the Sarawak Government has always strived to stay one step ahead – progressive where it matters most, and steadfast in building a future where the next generation can dream bigger.
“By the next AIFFA, we look forward to the launch of Sarawak’s own airline – AirBorneo, which will open new opportunities for greater connectivity and access to our state,” he said.
“So tonight, as we gather under one roof, let us celebrate the spirit of ASEAN – a region bound not only by geography, but by shared dreams, friendship and the universal power of storytelling.”
