KUCHING: The partnership between the Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts and the Sarawak Digital Economy Corporation (SDEC) is playing a key role in empowering the state’s digital creative economy.

Deputy Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Datuk Snowdan Lawan said that through various initiatives, the collaboration is offering real platforms for content creators, digital entrepreneurs, and technologists to grow and thrive across Sarawak.

“This joint effort is guided by a shared mission between the Ministry and SDEC: to unlock the full potential of Sarawak’s creative talent and position Sarawak as a rising digital and cultural force in the region,” he added.

He said this in his speech during the Launching of KRE8TIF! East 2025: Empowering Tomorrow’s Creative, Today held at a prominent mall, here today (May 14).

Meanwhile, SDEC chief executive officer Datuk Sudartono Osman said the presence of Kre8tif! in Sarawak sends a strong message that “creativity does not need a visa nor passport.”

“From Sabah to Brunei, and even Kalimantan next, we are stitching together a vibrant, borderless creative fabric across Borneo,” he said.

He added that the event is especially meaningful for the people of Borneo, as it opens doors and connects local talents to regional and global opportunities.

“This is about giving our homegrown creators access, exposure, and the chance to thrive,” he said.
