KUCHING: Twelve Senior Scouts and a Junior Scout from St Joseph’s Private Secondary School here have become the first in the state to receive the National Chief Scout Commissioner Award.
The award presentation ceremony was held at the Sarawak Scout Headquarters and officiated by Sarawak chief scout commissioner John Lim Boon Beng.
“This ceremony is not just a recognition of individual achievements but a collective achievement that reflects the strength, discipline, and spirit of the Air Scout programme in Sarawak.
“This follows the initial success in May 2025, when 37 Air Scout members received their Full Wing recognition and attained the rank of Junior Leading Airman,” said the Sarawak Scout Headquarters in a press release today (July 20).

It added that these milestones demonstrate the Sarawak Air Scout Secretariat’s full commitment to elevating the standards and impact of Air Scouting, with consistent mentorship, structured training and visionary leadership enabling Sarawak’s Air Scouts to make steady progress and set an inspiring example for others.
“As the awardees proudly wear their badges and Rambu, also known as Bushman’s Thongs, they represent more than scouting excellence, embodying leadership, responsibility and a spirit of service that will continue to guide and inspire the next generation,” it said.
The headquarters also noted that this landmark event sets a new benchmark for Air Scouting in Sarawak and reinforces the growing role of the movement in shaping capable, committed and community-driven youth.
