KUCHING: The Sarawak Amateur Boxing Association (SABA) has yet to finalise the date for its Annual General Meeting (AGM), which is expected to pave the way for the formation of a new leadership line-up.
SABA’s Deputy President, Datuk Johnny Ting Su King, said discussions were still ongoing on when the AGM would be held.
“There are indeed plans to hold the AGM, but the date has yet to be finalised,” he told Sarawak Tribune.
He said the date would be announced once it is confirmed.
Johnny also pointed out that SABA currently has no president following the passing of its president, the late Datuk Dr Rahman Lariwoo, last August.
He said the AGM would also elect a new SABA committee, and plan future programmes and activities.
“Once the meeting is held, we will know the new SABA Exco line-up. Then only it will provide an opportunity to plan activities and programmes covering various levels in the future,” he said.
Johnny said SABA hoped to continue its existing programmes and activities while preserving the legacy left by the late Rahman.
“Our desire is to continue the existing programmes and activities.
“In doing so, we want to continue the legacy that was carried out by the late president,” he said.
Under the late Rahman’s leadership, SABA organised various programmes and tournaments, building its reputation by producing boxers who made their mark nationally and internationally.
“Many talented boxers have been produced by SABA and have made their names on prestigious stages,” said Johnny.
