KUCHING: The much-anticipated Sarawak Bookfair 2025 will return to The Hills, Kuching, from this September 27 to October 5, offering nine days of book bargains, knowledge-sharing sessions, and family-friendly activities designed to make reading a lifestyle for Sarawakians.
The fair is organised to promote a love of reading, increase access to quality and affordable books, support the publishing industry and creative economy, and foster a culture of knowledge in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG 4: Quality Education).
“Last year’s event received an overwhelming response with thousands of visitors daily.
“We hope this year’s edition will be even more vibrant and inspiring as we continue our collective effort to nurture a knowledgeable society,” said Pustaka Negeri Sarawak’s Chief Executive Officer, Japri Bujang Masli.
He said this during a press conference at the Seminar Room, Level 1, Pustaka Sarawak here on Wednesday.
He added that the fair will feature a massive ‘Big Bad Wolf’ book sale, forums, workshops, meet-the-author sessions, and interactive activities for all ages.
“To further encourage reading, the Malaysian Book Publishers Association (MABOPA) is sponsoring 2,000 book vouchers for lucky visitors,” he said.
“This year, 32 exhibitors from Malaysia and abroad will participate, including Big Bad Wolf Books, Karangkraf, Penerbit UKM, Kembara Fixi, Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka (Sarawak Branch), Popular Book Co, MPH Bookstore, Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS Press) and the National Library of Malaysia, among others.”
Japri urged the public to seize the opportunity to discover quality reading materials and cultivate a reading habit, especially among children.
“We invite families, students and book lovers to join us and make the Sarawak Bookfair 2025 a memorable celebration of knowledge,” he said.
The event is supported by a host of local and international publishers, distributors, and writers, reaffirming Sarawak’s commitment to advancing literacy and lifelong learning.
