OYA: Educational aid extended to children pursuing higher education can help ease the financial burden on parents.

The Minister of Women, Early Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development, Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah, said such support serves as a long-term investment in the children’s future.

“This is because, upon completing their studies, they will eventually secure employment.

“It is hoped that children will always remember their parents’ sacrifices and aspirations when they further their education,” she said.

She was speaking at the N56 Dalat Education Committee Assistance Presentation Ceremony held at the Open Hall of the Dalat Service Centre here on Wednesday.

Fatimah, who is also the State Assemblywoman for Dalat, shared that the N56 Dalat Education Committee has been in existence since 2010.

She explained that the committee provides early, one-off assistance to students before they receive scholarships or loans for their tertiary education.

Additionally, Fatimah announced the Free Higher Education Scheme, which will be implemented next year.

She urged students to seize this opportunity provided by the Sarawak Government.

A total of 73 recipients, pursuing certificate, diploma, and degree programmes, received assistance amounting to RM35,500.

Fatimah expressed hope that the recipients would make the most of the educational support provided to them.
