KUCHING: The launch of Ghee Hua Co. Proton e.Mas Dealership and Showroom marks another significant step in Sarawak’s push towards sustainable mobility.

Tourism, Creative Industry, and Performing Arts Minister Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah noted that its launching aligns with Sarawak’s vision of reducing its carbon footprint through the adoption of electric vehicles (EVs).

“In support of the commitment to sustainable mobility and transportation, the Sarawak government will continue to expand its EV roadmap towards a greener and more innovative future that is widely adopted by the general public,” he said.

He said this during the launching ceremony of Ghee Hua Co. Proton e.Mas Dealership and Showroom at Jalan Abell here, last night.

The introduction of Proton’s latest e.MAS7 EV in Kuching is a positive step towards aligning with the Post Covid-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030, said Abdul Karim.

“These initiatives also support our Premier’s vision of establishing a sustainable transportation system powered by green and renewable energy,” he added.

While congratulating Ghee Hua Company for securing the dealership for the much-awaited Proton e.MAS EV in Sarawak, he expressed his pride that a locally owned motor company has been entrusted by the national motor company to showcase Malaysia’s locally branded electric cars.

“We will not be surprised if many of our local folk are looking forward to visiting your showroom here and to see for themselves the availability of well-known branded electric vehicles which are now on sale in their backyards,” he said.

He also noted that the new showroom features an exciting range of electric car models developed by Mercedes-Benz and Geely, providing more choices for consumers interested in EVs.

“The availability of a good range of EVs in our city augurs well for our local community because among others it will improve our environment, fuel cost savings, enhance convenience and above all, it promotes sustainability.

“With that, I look forward to viewing the various electric cars available at your showroom,” he said.
