KUCHING: The 2026 Sarawak Budget will be the key highlight of the 19th State Legislative Assembly (DUN) sitting, scheduled to take place from 24 Nov to Dec 3.

The sitting will also see the tabling of the State Ownership Policy, which aims to consolidate and safeguard the state’s assets under a stronger governance framework to clearly define how Sarawak exercises ownership.

According to the official DUN Sarawak notice issued by the Assembly’s Secretary, Nur Azhar Bujang, dated Oct 21, 2025, the sitting will be held at the DUN Complex, Petra Jaya, starting at 9am daily for a total of 10 days.

In line with the DUN Meeting Rules, each assemblyperson (ADUN) is allowed to submit up to 10 oral questions throughout the session, with the submission deadline set for Monday, Nov 10.

The DUN typically convenes twice a year, with the State Budget traditionally tabled in Nov.

However, a special sitting may be convened if necessary. For instance, a one-day special sitting was held on July 7 this year, during which the Dewan Undangan Negeri (Composition of Membership) Bill, 2025 was tabled and passed.

The Bill involved increasing the number of elected members in the House from 82 to 99.

Meanwhile, the previous sitting took place from May 19 to 28 this year, during which six government Bills were passed.
