KUCHING: Sarawak Club marked its 150th anniversary on Friday (Jan 30) with the unveiling of a new logo and commemorative signage, kicking off a year-long programme of events and facility upgrades.
The anniversary logo and signage, bearing the tagline ‘Honouring the past; shaping the future’, will be displayed at the club’s premises throughout 2026 as part of the milestone celebrations.
Club president Wilson Tan said the anniversary marked not only a historical milestone but also a renewed focus on improving facilities and long-term relevance.
“The club continues to serve its members to the highest standards in sports, social activities and dining, and we are embarking on major improvements to our facilities,” he said in a statement.
Tan said the Sarawak Club’s ability to remain relevant for a century and a half reflected its evolution alongside Kuching’s growth.
“Throughout its history, the club has adapted to the changing needs of the city while maintaining its identity. Many Kuching residents have celebrated important life events here, which underscores the club’s role in the community,” he added.
According to Tan, a series of events covering sports, dining and recreational activities will be held throughout the anniversary year, with members and their guests invited to take part.
“Over the years, the club has hosted prominent figures and played an important role in Kuching’s social life. This anniversary is about recognising that legacy while ensuring the club remains relevant for future generations,” he said.
