KUCHING: Sarawak will host the 43rd Premier Sarawak Cup (II) – ITF World Tennis Tour Juniors J100 from Sept 2 to 7, welcoming over 200 players, coaches, and family members from 24 countries.
The international tournament draws young talents from Australia, China, Japan, Great Britain, the United States, and across Asia, Europe, and Africa.
Part of the global development circuit for under-18 players, it offers valuable world ranking points to help athletes transition from junior to professional tennis.
Sarawak Lawn Tennis Association (SLTA) president Datuk Patrick Liew said the event has become a key highlight not only for tennis but also for Sarawak’s sporting and tourism scene.
“We are honoured to once again welcome young talents from around the world to Kuching.
“This tournament is not just about tennis, but also about showcasing Sarawak’s hospitality, culture, and ability to host world-class sporting events,” he said.
SLTA has been organising ITF tournaments since 1999, elevating Sarawak’s profile on the international tennis map.
“We take pride in making every edition memorable for players and visitors, while providing exposure and inspiration for local talents,” Liew added.
The tournament is expected to spotlight Sarawak’s rich culture and warm hospitality, further cementing its position as a premier destination for sports and tourism.
