KUCHING: Sarawak’s Nur Dania Syuhada is set to compete at the 20th Asian Games after helping the Malaysia women’s cricket team secure qualification for the continental showpiece in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan.

Malaysia booked their place at the Games, scheduled from Sept 19 to Oct 4, with Dania among the national players who contributed to the successful campaign.

The achievement marks another milestone for the Sarawak cricketer, who has established herself as a regular member of the national team since making her international debut against Bangladesh in 2022.

Sarawak Cricket Association (SCA) hailed Dania’s achievement, describing her as one of the state’s rising talents and a source of inspiration for aspiring young players.

“Her dedication, resilience and contributions on the field have been instrumental in this historic achievement for Malaysian cricket. Her journey is a testament to what passion, perseverance and hard work can achieve,” the association said in a Facebook post.

Dania has represented Malaysia in several major competitions, including the 2023 SEA Games and the 2024 ACC Women’s Premier Cup, and will now have another opportunity to test herself against some of Asia’s strongest cricketing nations.
