Sarawak Day 2025 full-dress rehearsal runs smoothly in Miri

MIRI: The full-dress rehearsal for the upcoming Sarawak Day 2025 celebration went smoothly at Miri City Stadium here last night (July 19).

The rehearsal was attended by Minister of Transport and Minister-in-Charge of the Sarawak Day 2025 Celebration Datuk Seri Lee Kim Shin.

Also present were Deputy Minister of Women and Children Development Datuk Rosey Yunus; Deputy Minister of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development Datuk Dr Ripin Lamat; Deputy State Secretary (Operations) Datuk Hii Chang Kee; Sarawak Protocol and Event Management Unit (UPPAN) director Datuk Hamdan Sharbini; and Miri Division Resident Galong Luang.

This year’s celebration promises a vibrant line-up of patriotic and cultural segments to stir state pride and honour Sarawak’s achievements.

Highlights include a special Sarawak Day video presentation set to the official theme song “Sarawakku Gemilang”, and a commemorative film titled “Sarawak Maju Makmur – A Journey Through Time and Progress”, which will be screened following the symbolic launch by the Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, alongside Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg and Lee.

The event will also feature a Konsert Rakyat by the Sarawak State Symphony Orchestra (SONS), accompanying performances by local talents including Karen Libau, Raquel Then, Firdaus Materang, Donny Lang, Jali, Noise Dream Band, and Fredo-led Pinomal Band.

Audiences can also enjoy choral performances by students from SMK Pujut and SK Lutong, along with cultural dances by D’Bayu and Cultural Miri, Gah Rentak and Culture Art Miri, and The Art School.

Adding star power to the night will be special performances by Malaysian music icons Bob Yusof, Dayang Nurfaizah, and Zee Avi—before the celebration concludes with a dazzling fireworks display, marking the joyous spirit of Sarawak Day 2025.
