BARCELONA: A high-level delegation from the Ministry of Utility and Telecommunication (MUT) met with global ICT company ZTE on the sidelines of the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2026 on Monday (Mar 2) to explore potential collaboration opportunities.
Deputy Minister for Utility and Telecommunication Datuk Liwan Lagang said ZTE’s experience in delivering large-scale networks and intelligent platforms across various markets provides valuable insights for Sarawak as it strengthens its digital and utility ecosystems.
“Your (ZTE) experience in enabling Artificial Intelligence (AI)-powered connectivity, expanding broadband access, and supporting sustainable development aligns closely with Sarawak’s priorities, particularly in enhancing resilience, promoting inclusivity and advancing our digital economy.
“I look forward to a fruitful discussion as we explore potential areas of cooperation in telecommunications, smart utilities, digital platforms and capacity building.
“Let us use this opportunity to establish strong foundations for innovation, knowledge transfer and long-term strategic collaborations that deliver tangible benefits to Sarawak,” he was quoted as saying in an UKAS report.
Among those present were ZTE vice president and general manager of Bearer Network Product Line Li Qiang, ZTE Malaysia Government and Enterprise account director Benny Li, and Sarawak Digital Economy Corporation (SDEC) chairman Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Morshidi Abdul Ghani.
