BANGKOK: Taekwondo Malaysia president Azizul Annuar Adenan accompanied a Sarawak delegation led by Deputy Minister for Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development (Youth and Sports) Datuk Gerald Rentap Jabu, recently made a working visit to Bangkok to conduct a comprehensive review of the organisation of the SEA Games.
The working visit is expected to serve as an important reference to ensure that venues, facilities and Sarawak athletes meet international standards, while also strengthening Sarawak’s preparedness as one of the three host states for the prestigious SEA Games 2027, which will be hosted by Malaysia.
The delegation also focused on understanding the overall flow of the Games from the first day of competition, including preparations leading up to the official handover of the SEA Games flag to Malaysia, ensuring that all processes are conducted in an orderly manner and in compliance with regional protocols.’
During the visit, the Sarawak delegation toured several main competition venues, including Vajiravudh College, the official venue for the SEA Games squash events, as well as Major Cineplex Ratchayothin and Blue O Rhythm & Bowl, the official venues for the bowling events, to assess facility standards and technical readiness.
Both squash and bowling will be among the sports hosted in Sarawak during the SEA Games 2027.
Also present were Deputy Minister for Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development (Entrepreneur Development) Datuk Dr Ripin Lamat, and Sarawak Deputy State Secretary (Operations) Datu Hii Chang Kee.
