Sarawak delegation visits Egypt to check on students’ welfare

CAIRO, Egypt: A delegation from the Sarawak Foundation and the Sarawak Islamic Council (MIS) is in Egypt to check on the welfare of Sarawakian students and strengthen ties with the Embassy of Malaysia here.

It is being led by Sarawak State Secretary, Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki, who is also the Deputy Chairman of the Sarawak Foundation.

The official visit from October 27-30 includes an inspection of the Kenyalang Sarawak Hostel (AKS) here, as well as engagement sessions with Sarawakian students studying in Cairo and Alexandria.

In addition, the delegation held a meeting with the Malaysian Ambassador to Egypt, Datuk Mohd Tarid Sufian, to further enhance strategic cooperation for the well-being of Sarawakian students pursuing various fields of study at universities in Egypt.

Among those in the delegation are State Attorney-General, Datuk Seri Saferi Ali; President of MIS, Datuk Misnu Taha; Mufti of Sarawak, Datuk Kipli Yassin; as well as senior officers from the Sarawak Foundation and the Sarawak Islamic Religious Department (JAIS).
