KUCHING: The Sarawak Department of Irrigation and Drainage (DID) has made history as the first technical department in Sarawak to receive the MS ISO 37001:2016 Anti-Bribery Management System (ABMS) Certification.
The prestigious recognition was presented by Shahrizan Mohammad Sahmoni, regional director of Sirim Berhad Sarawak; to Datuk Ahmad Denney Ahmad Fauzi, director of the Sarawak DID; in the presence of Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian, Deputy Premier and Minister for Public Health, Housing and Local Government.
Sarawak DID marked this milestone during its annual Integrity Day celebration on Thursday (Feb 6) at The Waterfront Hotel, Kuching attended by approximately 200 guests.
The certification, which covers engineering services, project management, and maintenance management for infrastructure development and water resource management, was officially awarded on Dec 30, 2024.
“This certification is not just an achievement but a symbol of our department’s dedication to maintaining the highest integrity standards in public service,” said Ahmad Denney.
He highlighted the importance of upholding integrity in public service and reaffirmed the department’s commitment to strict adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs) in managing federal development projects in Sarawak, valued up to RM50 million.
“Sarawak DID takes integrity issues seriously in the execution of development projects. We will not tolerate any form of non-compliance or misconduct and will take appropriate action against any violations.”
Additionally, Sarawak DID participated in the 2025 Integrity, Governance, and Anti-Corruption (AIGA) Awards, which serve as a benchmark for organisations in assessing their internal integrity and governance capabilities.
“Knowing what’s right doesn’t mean much unless you do what’s right,” Ahmad Denny quoted former US President Franklin D. Roosevelt, urging all Sarawak DID personnel to uphold integrity in their daily duties.
