THE Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUN) has unanimously approved the Supplementary Supply (2024) Bill, 2025, authorising an additional sum of RM153,769,197 (RM153 million) for ordinary expenditure.
Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas said the additional expenditure is to meet the cost for various services incurred by ministries and departments for which funds were either not provided for or insufficiently provided in the 2024 budget estimates.
The assembly then also approved an extra RM18.9 million for additional expenditure last year (2024).
Uggah stated that there are 29 sub-activities and 37 Sub-sub activities for which the additional provisions are required.
“The amount required has been wired from savings among the subheads concerned and/or advanced from contingencies’ reserves,” he said when tabling the bill at the august House today.
The bill was seconded by Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan.
Uggah stated that of the additional funds, RM12.4 million has been allocated for special projects, while RM6.5 million will be for the development of the transport sector.
The remaining funds has been designated for land infrastructure, riverine infrastructure, government buildings, public utilities, land development, land compensation and residential extension, urban development, rural development, public finance, planning and development, forestry, and crop agriculture.
