Sarawak DUN’s fourth session from May 19-28

KUCHING: The first meeting of the fourth session of the 19th Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUN) will take place over eight days from May 19 (Monday) to May 28 (Wednesday), 2025, at Level 8 of the DUN complex.

The sitting, which will begin with the official opening by the Head of State, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, on Monday morning, will not sit on the weekend – Saturday (May 24) and Sunday (May 25).

Speaker of the DUN, Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Asfia Awang Nassar, said the ceremonial opening will start at 9:00 am with the arrival of Wan Junaidi and his wife, Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi, followed by an inspection of the guard of honour.

“All Honourable Members are required to wear Ceremonial Dress No. 1, with an official photograph session and state banquet to be held later that evening,” he said in a press conference at DUN complex here today.

Asfia also said that as of submission deadline on May 5, a total of 320 questions have been received from 41 members.

“There are 247 requiring oral answers, and 73 requiring written replies.

“At the session this time around, there will be no motions or Private Member’s Bills were received by the closing date,” he added.

Asfia noted that the Infrastructure and Port Development Ministry and the Public Health, Housing and Local Government Ministry received the highest number of questions, at 48 each.

The Question-and-Answer Session will be held over four days, from May 20 to May 23.

The tabling of bills by relevant ministers will take place from May 20 to 22, while debates on the motion of appreciation for the Governor’s address will be conducted from May 21 to 23.

The winding-up speeches by ministers are scheduled from May 26 to 28.

Each sitting will begin at 9:00 am at the Chamber, Level 8 of the DUN Complex.
