MIRI: Sarawak Energy has donated a haemodialysis machine to Miri Hospital to strengthen dialysis treatment capacity in northern Sarawak.

The contribution forms part of the company’s RM225,000 allocation to Sarawak Badan Amal Tenaga Isteri-Isteri (SABATI) for the procurement of haemodialysis machines for hospitals statewide.

Sarawak Energy’s Senior Vice-President for Corporate Services, Siti Aisah Adenan, said that access to dialysis treatment is critical for patients as it ensures continuity of care and improves quality of life.

“Through this contribution and our collaboration with SABATI, we hope to ease the burden on both patients and healthcare providers, while ensuring essential services remain accessible to communities in Miri and surrounding areas,” she added.

The machine was handed over on Feb 7 during a ceremony officiated by Transport Minister, Datuk Seri Lee Kim Shin, and received by Miri Hospital’s Director, Dr Jack Wong Siew Yu.

The donation follows a similar contribution to Lundu Hospital in 2025, with additional machines scheduled for delivery to hospitals in Mukah, Bintulu and Sarikei later this year.

Sarawak Energy and SABATI began their healthcare collaboration in June 2020 with donations of haemodialysis machines to Kapit and Lawas hospitals.

Since then, the company has supported medical facilities across Sarawak through contributions including dialysis machines, ECG machines, ambulances and fundoscopy equipment, as well as funding cataract surgeries in Kapit, Mukah-Balingian, Sungai Asap Belaga, Murum and Sri Aman.

Sarawak Energy’s social investment initiatives are guided by four ‘Community Investment’ focus areas: Education and Young People; Environmental Management and Conservation; Culture and Heritage Preservation; and Community Development and Entrepreneurship.
