KUCHING: Sarawak Energy has been awarded the ISO 37001:2025 Anti-Bribery Management System (ABMS) certification, making it the company’s seventh ISO management system certification.
The certificate was presented by NIOSH Certification Chief Executive Officer Syamsul Zahrin Zainudin to Sarawak Energy Group Chief Executive Officer Datuk Sharbini Suhaili at a ceremony held at Menara Sarawak Energy on April 8.
The event was witnessed by Sarawak Energy Board Member Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Morshidi Abdul Ghani and NIOSH Certification Director Thomas Balan Bang according to the press statement on Monday (April 13).
The certification follows a comprehensive two-stage audit process completed in 2025, conducted by NIOSH Certification Sdn Bhd and observed by a representative from the Department of Standards Malaysia.
Speaking at the ceremony, Sarawak Energy Senior Vice President for Legal and Compliance George Chapman said the certification reflects the organisation’s zero-tolerance approach to fraud, bribery and corruption across its operations and among its business partners.
“Adhering to the provisions of this ISO standard promotes trust and confidence in our business dealings and enhances Sarawak Energy’s reputation,” he said.
The ISO 37001:2025 standard supports Sarawak Energy’s Anti-Bribery and Corruption Policy and related frameworks, helping to manage risks linked to fraud and bribery while strengthening internal controls.
The updated standard also places greater emphasis on emerging risks, including those tied to climate-related activities.
The certification aligns with Section 17A of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Act 2009 (Amendment 2018), supporting the management of corporate liability risks related to bribery and corruption.
Sarawak Energy said it aims to progressively extend the ISO 37001:2025 certification across the wider Group as part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen governance and organisational resilience.
