KUCHING: Sarawak is strengthening its push for green-economy partnerships by engaging Kelantan on carbon trading, Reduced Impact Logging (RIL), and public service reforms.

This was highlighted during a recent courtesy visit by a delegation from the Peninsular East Coast state.

Sarawak State Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki received Kelantan State Secretary Tengku Kaya Perkasa Datuk Dr Tengku Mohamed Faziharudean Al Hajj at the Sarawak State Legislative Assembly (DUN) Complex.

Abu Bakar said Sarawak shared its experience in implementing carbon trading and the field-level application of RIL as part of its sustainable forestry strategy.

He said the discussion also covered governance, public service transformation and efforts to strengthen Sarawak’s forest sustainability framework.

“I welcome closer cooperation between the public services of Sarawak and Kelantan, and hope this relationship can be used to explore opportunities in the green economy, sustainable development and long-term economic planning that supports the wellbeing of our people,” he said in a Facebook post.

The half-hour meeting was also attended by State Attorney-General Datuk Seri Saferi Ali, Economic Planning Unit (EPU) director Datuk Lester Matthew, Land and Survey Department director Datuk Awang Zamhari Awang Mahmood and Forest Department director Datuk Hamdan Mohamed.
