THE Sarawak Government continues to demonstrate its strong commitment to the welfare of low-income citizens through the ongoing implementation of the Resettlement Scheme (SPS) and Village Expansion Scheme (SPK), which have been actively pursued since the Fourth Malaysia Plan (4thMP).
Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan said the implementation of the SPS and SPK is a reflection of the Sarawak Government’s concern and commitment to assist our low-income rakyat who are in need of land to build their homes.
“Since 2018, the schemes have incorporated upgraded infrastructure standards, including paved roads, concrete drains, fenced residential lots, and reticulated systems for both water and electricity supply.

“The average development cost for each lot is estimated at RM150,000,” he said.
He said this in his ministerial winding-up speech during the DUN Sitting here on Wednesday.
“To ensure affordability, the Sarawak Government has set the land premium for each lot at no more than RM2,500, with flexible annual instalments over a period of up to 10 years.
‘Under the 12th Malaysia Plan (12MP) and allocations from the People’s Project (Projek Rakyat) up to 30 April 2025, a total of 82 SPS and SPK projects have been approved.
“These will deliver 7,932 residential lots with a total estimated implementation cost of RM1.539 billion.
“Out of the 82 approved projects, 25 have been fully completed, while the remaining 57 projects are currently ongoing and are expected to continue through the remainder of the 12MP and into the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP),”he said.
