KUCHING: The Sarawak Badminton Association (SBA) has confirmed that 54 junior players will represent the state at the first leg of the AFFIN 100PLUS Junior Elite Tour 2026.

The tournament is scheduled to take place from Feb 4 to 8 at the Indoor Arena, EduCity Sports Complex in Iskandar Puteri, Johor.

Sarawak’s contingent will compete across all age-group categories, in line with the state’s sustained commitment to structured junior development and meaningful competitive exposure at the national level.

The team comprises 10 boys and eight girls in the Under-12 category, 10 boys and nine girls in the Under-14 division, and nine boys together with eight girls in the Under-16 group.

In total, Sarawak has submitted 60 entries, comprising six singles entries and four doubles pairs across all eligible categories.

In a statement issued today (Feb 3), SBA honorary secretary Datuk Dr Wan Khalik Wan Muhammad said the AFFIN 100PLUS Junior Elite Tour serves as a vital platform for young players to gain quality competitive exposure at the national level.

“By fielding a strong and balanced contingent across all age groups, Sarawak continues to emphasise long-term athlete development, discipline, and performance progression.

“These tournaments form the foundation of our future elite pathway, and we are confident that this exposure will contribute positively to Sarawak’s badminton ecosystem,”he said.

The AFFIN 100PLUS Junior Elite Tour, organised by the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) and hosted by the Johor Badminton Association, remains a key component of Malaysia’s junior high-performance framework, serving as an important benchmarking platform for talent identification and national rankings.

The Sarawak Badminton Association wishes all Sarawak players, coaches, and officials every success as they represent the state at this prestigious national junior tournament.
