Sarawak Forestry marks integrity day

BINTULU: More than 320 participants, including Sarawak Forestry Department staff and agency representatives, came together today to mark the Sarawak Forestry Department Integrity Day celebration at Promenade Hotel, Bintulu, and virtually via Zoom.

The event, themed ‘From Seeds to Canopies, Everything Matters’, was officiated by Datuk Murshid Diraja Dr Juanda Jaya, Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier’s Department (Integrity and Ombudsman).

Datuk Hamden Mohammad, Sarawak Forestry Director, delivered the opening speech.

The event attracted over 150 staff and licensee representatives who attended in person, while another 170 Forestry Department staff joined virtually, reflecting strong support for efforts to promote integrity and good governance.

The programme featured a series of insightful talks: Abdul Kadir Mohamad from MACC presented on ‘Offences Related to Act 694’, followed by Raymond Menggat from the Forestry Department with ‘Integrity from a Psychological Perspective’.

DSP Angela Ladie from the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) discussed ‘Criminal Offences by Public Servants (Sexual Harassment by Public Servants)’, and Evonne Leonora Simon from the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) spoke on ‘Scammers and How to Handle Them’.

A key highlight of the event was the signing of the Sarawak Forestry Department Corporate Integrity Pledge by eleven licensee representatives from companies and communities, including Raplex Sdn Bhd, Ravenscourt Sdn Bhd, Shin Yang Sdn Bhd, Samling Sdn Bhd, Cipta Reforestation, Agritech (Sarawak) Sdn Bhd, Rich Ventura Plantation, Focus Titanium Sdn Bhd, Yiihin Resources Sdn Bhd, Tuan Rumah Ado Bilong, and the Anap Muput Community.

The pledges were handed over to Hamden, witnessed by Dr Juanda.

The annual Integrity Day celebration is part of the Sarawak Forestry Department’s ongoing efforts to cultivate a culture of integrity and strengthen departmental governance, reinforcing Sarawak’s commitment to transparent and ethical forestry management.
