Sarawak forum to tackle economic future

KUCHING: The Sarawak Initiatives (TSI) is set to host an influential public forum titled “The Future Economy of Sarawak: Oil & Gas Economy, e-Invoicing, GST versus SST” on Saturday (Sept 27), from 8 am 12:30 pm at Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak, here.

This timely event brings together prominent speakers including Dato Sri JC Fong, Yusuf Abdul Rahman, Madam Noelle Lily Morse, and Mr Miro anak Taut, who will address key economic issues shaping Sarawak’s development path.

Topics on the agenda include:

The implications of the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63),
PETROS and PETRONAS,
Implementation of e-Invoicing,
Comparative analysis of GST and SST,
Governance and economic growth strategies,
Aligning state ambitions with national priorities, and
Fostering an Inclusive, Knowledge-Driven Future

As Sarawak moves towards building a knowledge-based society, TSI’s forum aims to promote open dialogue on public policy and economic planning. The event is envisioned as a platform for inclusive engagement where business leaders, academics, policymakers, civil society members, and trade organisations can share ideas and propose future-ready solutions.

The forum has already garnered strong interest across various sectors, reflecting a shared commitment to shaping an economy that is sustainable, innovative, and inclusive.

Key objectives of the forum are:

  1. Addressing Critical Economic Issues – From the state’s oil and gas landscape to the transition to e-invoicing, and fiscal reforms such as GST versus SST, forum aims to provide clarity and insight into these pressing topics.

    By fostering dialogue among diverse stakeholders, the forum seeks to spark collective strategies for long-term economic growth.
