KUALA LUMPUR: The Sarawak Foundation and Women’s Wing of the Malaysian Government Welfare and Sports Council (MAKSAK) Sarawak, presented Aidilfitri contributions to 50 recipients through the Sentuhan Kasih Juma’ani Ceremony held here recently.
Of the total, 46 recipients were persons with disabilities (PwD), one orphan, and three patients from healthcare facilities around the Klang Valley, all of whom are Sarawak residents.
The donations, which included duit raya and biscuits, were handed over by MAKSAK Women Sarawak advisor Datuk Amar Juma’ani Tuanku Bujang, accompanied by MAKSAK Women Sarawak chairperson Datin Amar Baduyah Bujang.
Earlier, Sarawak Foundation’s director Datuk Mersal Abang Rosli in his speech said that such events are a manifestation of the Sarawak Foundation and MAKSAK Women Sarawak’s concern for the welfare of the people of Bumi Kenyalang, in collaboration with the Sarawak Liaison Office here.
He said that this initiative is carried out through the MAKSAK Cares fund, managed by MAKSAK Women Sarawak, to assist those in need, including Sarawak civil servants.
“We hope that the contributions provided can help alleviate some of the burdens and bring joy, especially to the patients, the PwD community, and the support staff at the liaison office and the Sarawak Foundation in Kuala Lumpur,” he added.
All categories of recipients were referred by the Dayak Transformation Association (TRADA), the Borneo Market Association in Peninsular Malaysia, the Ministry of Women, Family, and Community Development, Serian Foundation, Hikmah Wilayah Persekutuan, National Heart Institute of Kuala Lumpur, Selayang Hospital, and the National University of Malaysia Hospital (HUKM).
