TEBEDU: A bid by 12 foreigners to enter Sarawak illegally was thwarted by the General Operations Force (GOF) today.
Acting on information, a team of GOF personnel raided a house here around 4.30am.
Sarawak GOF commander SAC Mancha Ata said the team found 12 Indonesians —nine men, two women and a boy, aged between five and 48 — hiding inside.
“They did not have any legal travel documents. The house is suspected to be used as a transit point for illegals to enter Malaysia via jalan tikus (rat trail),” he said
The illegals were later ordered to return to their country of origin via the Tebedu Immigration, Customs, Quarantine and Security Complex (ICQS).
Mancha stated that the deportation was made under Section 6(1) of the Immigration Act 1959 (Act 155) and the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988 (Act 342).
As of Jan 1, Sarawak GOF has made 65 arrests (16 locals and 49 Indonesians) and saw the deportation of 110 illegals (92 men and 18 women).
