KUCHING: The Sarawak Golf Association (SGA) has appointed a new leadership lineup for the 2025–2027 term, with Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki named as Patron, following its Annual General Meeting held at Samarahan Golf Club.
The association, which continues to play a central role in developing golf across Sarawak, announced that Brian Chien Chai Ung of Samarahan Country Club has been elected as President. He will be supported by Deputy President Perry Lim Hock Soon from Kelab Golf Miri.
Ting Kee Suen (Kelab Golf Sarawak) has been appointed Secretary, while Lucas Lai Siet Chong (Samarahan Country Club) takes up the Treasurer role. Wong Ley Nam from Kelab Golf Sibu assumes the position of Captain.
In a statement, the association reaffirmed its commitment to uniting the state’s golfing community through strategic programmes including junior development, inter-club tournaments, and improved governance.
Chien expressed optimism about the direction of SGA under the new term.
“With (Abu Bakar’s) guidance and this diverse team representing clubs from across Sarawak, we can effectively address the needs of our entire golfing community.
“Our collective experience will be invaluable as we implement our development programs to elevate the standard of golf throughout the state,” said Chien.
With a focus on nurturing young talent through Junior Development, improving tournament standards, and fostering unity among golf clubs, SGA 2023 is poised to elevate the golfing landscape in Sarawak.
The association also reaffirmed its mission to make golf more accessible and sustainable for all enthusiasts across the state.
